New live recordings from Roots

We just finished processing the recordings from Roots cafe. Now don't expect any high-tech, produced quality tracks. Its nothing fancy, but its more than enough to feel the vibe of Saturday night in Brooklyn. Nils recently purchased a H4 Handy Recorder. Mainly to use as a memo device to remember new songs, but he found out that it actually does a decent job recording live sets. You can find the new selected tracks in the media section in the right sidebar. Enjoy :)

If you really can't wait 'till Friday to catch another danish set, we have a scheduled MUNY performance this Wednesday (October 7th). We'll be playing Grand Central Station from 3-6pm. You can find us in the mezzanine.

Arlene’s Grocery and Union Square subway

First of all a big thanks to everyone that showed up last night at Roots cafe. We had a great time! And Jamey, we're looking forward to playing with you the 30th.

As some of you know, we attended the MUNY (Music Under New York) audition in March and got selected as an official MTA artist. Banner and everything, ha ha. That basically means that we have a permit to book and play New Yorks underground 365 days a year. That is definitely gonna come in handy when winter comes. Anyway, tomorrow (Monday 5th) we have a scheduled performance in the Union Square subway. We'll be there from 3-6pm. If anyone wants to stop by and sing along, please feel free :) . Its right by the N, Q, R and W trains in the main mezzanine.

Besides rocking out on the streets and subways whenever we get the chance, October is a busy month for us. We have a bunch of exciting shows coming up. Next up is Arlene's Grocery this Friday. Located on 95 Stanton Street, Arlene's is one of the best sounding venues in Lower East Side if you ask me. The sound guys in there really know what they are doing. From the design of the room and full backline it provides, to the sound engineers who tweak the knobs, Arlene’s is a venue that’s truly designed for live music. We can't wait! You can get the quick details in our Show Schedule on this site, or get the full lineup, details, pictures and RSVP here. Also check out http://arlenesgrocery.net/ for more info about the venue.

See you soon!

Roots cafe this Saturday

We've just been booked for a gig @ Roots cafe in Park Slope, Brooklyn tomorrow. If you haven't seen the place yet, this is your chance. Speaking of atmosphere in the last post, this is one of Brooklyn's better choices. A small place with the right concept. Jamey (the owner) makes sure you can eat his homemade southern-style food to free quality music. The place has a BYOB policy on event nights. Bring your own beer and they will cool and serve them for tips.

If you plan on coming, the excact adress is 639A Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn. Also find out more here: rootscafebrooklyn.com. The lineup is still a bit uncertain, but music starts at 8pm. We'll probably go on around 9.30pm. The pictures below are from one of our last shows there. Hope to see you there!

Rockwood Music Hall

This Wednesday we played a gig at one of our favorite venues - Rockwood Music Hall. Its a small and cozy place on Allen street in Lower east side. That place has an amazing atmosphere, and the sound is always good. Thanks Tommy for having us once again. We're looking forward to next time.

Picture time

Since this site is brand new, I wanna share some of our many pictures. Most of these are from when we first got to New York about a year ago. Its truly amazing how many people are kind enough to send us these. Taking their time, processing and then sending it. Naturally we can't take pictures of our selves when playing, but still we have so many good memories in the ones that people have been sending. Mostly from the street. Big thanks to all of you!

Spindle and Wit

The British band Spindle and Wit recently stayed in our apartment for 10 days. They are an upcoming band from London and they had a bunch of shows planned during their stay. We did our best to show them a good time. The absolute highlight in my eyes, was when they decided to learn our danish tune "Min Familie (Tralalalulalalej)". Obviously they don't know any words in danish, except one that I better not mention here. Still that doesn't stop them from singing their heart out. Who says danish is hard to learn?! It took these guys 5 minutes :)

Recording in Harlem

Lately we've been experimenting with different ways of recording our songs. Its not as easy as it sounds though. We wanna interpret that sound we have on the street in the right way, without making it too clean. Those experiments has been giving us some fun experiences. One of them in Harlem where producer and writer Tony Shimkin kindly helped us out with a couple of sessions.

A beach house story…

We recently played a gig in Long Island, and we were lucky enough to stay at our managers mom's beach house for a couple of days. Of course that ended up in a scandal. The first night we managed to find their booze and got a bit too drunk. The first picture is from the next morning. Esben was sleeping on the lawn and Aske on the living room floor. The rest of the pictures is from a street market in uptown Harlem.
